ISRAEL UPDATE

March 31, 2002 – A persecutor of Jews once asked of those he had persecuted - what would be the outcome if the persecutions continued?

A Jewish man replied there would be a feast! Pharaoh tried to destroy the Hebrews, and the result was the Passover. Haman attempted to annihilate them also, and the result was Purim.  When Antiochus Epiphanies sought to assimilate the Jews into his culture, they resisted.  The Hebrews went through a successful three-year struggle to overthrow their Syrian oppressors - the result was Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. (Hanukkah means dedication).

We can be so easily disturbed at what we are seeing in Israel today, as the suicide bombers are continuing on with little restraint.

The Internet is full of anti-Semantic hate propaganda websites that have been designed by neo-Nazis, Islamic fundamentalists, and churches that preach hate and replacement theology.

Of course one cannot help but watch the policies of the U.N. and the European Economic Union and realize how they and the Arab oil countries are slowly, but surely, squeezing the lifeblood out of Israel.  In short, the persecution continues…

I think of the prophets prayer of desire, “Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence.” Isaiah 64:1

We can emphatically state that one day this will happen.  G-d will come down and judge the evil forces – those that oppose Israel and the Jews, as well as Christians and the church.  At the time of Christ’s Return, we will enjoy the feast of feasts – the Marriage Supper of the Lamb – because G-d will celebrate with us all.

March 31, 2002 – As engineers were building a highway tunnel complex in Colorado, they began construction at both ends simultaneously.  At the completion of the project, all were amazed to find the two roads were only ½ inch apart.

While this might seem like a marvel of modern engineering – which it is – it still cannot begin to compare with the accuracy of G-d’s Word, especially as pertains to prophecy.

“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of G-d spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” II Peter 1: 19-21

When prophets were exiled, G-d’s Word shown in the darkness.  When enslaved in pagan lands, the light shown bright in G-d’s Word.  As sin and debauchery abounded, sweeping through nations, G-d’s Word shown again.  Its eternal illumination has brought hope and encouragement to untold numbers of believers.

Men might build hundreds of miles of freeways and be off by only ½ inch.  They might explore outer space – be able to clone animals – but, they will never be able to match G-d’s wisdom, nor the accuracy of His Word – the shining light that guides us the darkest of times.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105
