ISRAEL UPDATE

April 7, 2002 - Have you noticed that as America sets its sights on Iraq and Saddam Hussein - Israel experiences a rash of suicide bombings, then Yassir Arafat calls for a cease-fire after scores of innocent civilians are left dead and wounded?

Did you ever stop to ask yourself how Arafat's PLO claims that it was created to liberate land taken by Israel in the 1967 war, but was created three years before that war ever took place?

Isn’t it strange that the Arab leaders gathered in Beirut, Lebanon to hold their summit - the city that is now a terrorist stronghold in a nation occupied by Syria since 1975 - to pressure Israel into giving back land?

Are you confused by people calling for swift, harsh retaliation against Suddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, and Slobodon Milosovich - yet denounce Israel for defending herself?

Would you be puzzled knowing that Israel has given back 98% of the land taken in the 1967 war, yet the bloodshed continues because Israel is "not making enough concessions"?

If these questions leave you feeling like there is no answer for the problems in the Middle East, you are absolutely correct.

Pakistan was separated from India to keep Muslims from fighting Hindus.  England and Ireland still wage their war, but for some reason Israel needs to make concessions. . .

April 7, 2002 - The world is caught up in doing good - and is spending great amounts of money, time and material to make the world a better place for all of us to live.

I think of all the attempts to save the whales, spotted owls, marshlands and forests to ensure this planet is preserved for future generations.

Activists will demonstrate in front of abortion clinics, nuclear facilities, and prisons – endeavoring to preserve life held precious by human beings.  In their way of thinking, they are bettering our world.

Musicians, actors and actresses, entrepreneurs, and athletes donate money, make public appearances and give commentary on how to correct the ills of the world - from their point of view.

And who could forget the politicians and military leaders that spend vast amounts of financial resources to adjust and correct problems as they see them - again hoping to make the world had better place to live.

But consider this. . .  Jesus Christ will one day return to earth - when He does, there will only be the Glory of G-d . . . no war, no poverty, no financial woes, and it will never end!

The point is - all of these undertakings, though sincere in most cases, are still only man's efforts.  The vast majority of them have been unsuccessful and disappointing, to say the least.

Even so, L-rd Jesus, come quickly. . .
