ISRAEL UPDATEApril 6, 2003 - Do we really want justice to be served to all of the evil dictators and regimes of the world, by the Master and Creator of the universe? If so, perhaps we should think again.
Amos rebuked the children of Israel for desiring the Day of the L-rd to come - because of the threats of violence from neighboring countries. "Therefore the L-RD, the G-d of hosts, the L-rd, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! Alas! And they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and such as are skilful of lamentation to wailing. And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the L-RD. Woe unto you that desire the day of the L-RD! To what end is it for you? The day of the L-RD is darkness, and not light.” Amos 5:16-18
In the past G-d dealt harshly with the nations of the world that opposed and enslaved the Israelites - ravaging their country, but we must remember that He also judged His own people for becoming a people of idolatry and rebellion.
In a nation that has allowed enough babies to be aborted that could populate California, for personal choice, do we want to see G-d's judgment? Our religious practices have become more mystical, occultist, new age, and paganized, yet we say G-d needs to judge evil!
As our national political stance becomes more accommodating to the enemies of Israel and her safety is compromised - do we really want to cry out for G-d's judgment?
Amos warned Israel of the fallacy of their thinking, and in the New Testament, Peter tells us, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of G-d: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of G-d?” I Peter 4:17
Before we ask for G-d's judgment, our nation and the Church needs to humble themselves, repenting, leaving our sinful ways behind - and let G-d take care of the rest. . .
April 6, 2003 - As a teacher of G-d's word, a born-again Christian, an American citizen, and a staunch supporter of Israel, let me say that the current events shaking the world are not funny, nor should they be spoken of in jest.
And yet with all the serious events transpiring right before our eyes, it would seem that most are not grasping the magnitude and seriousness of the situation.
It would appear that some countries are playing a new version of the TV game show "To Tell the Truth” – but in reality, they are failing miserably.
Contestant Number One: The Commonwealth of Independent States (the former Soviet Union) - is now allowing Russian businesses to sell anti-tank missiles, night-vision goggles, and electronic equipment to jam our GPS guided (global positioning system) smart bombs. This same country is a member of the United Nations Security Council.
Contestant Number Two: Syria has been shipping military supplies across its border to her neighbor Iraq, and whether they are of Russian or Syrian origin - they are in Iraq, being used against the men and women of our Armed Forces. And this same Syria is - you guessed it – another member of the same United Nations Security Council.
Contestant Number Three: Then there is Jordan, the “moderate” nation that is allowing humanitarian relief to be staged there and then shipping it to the Iraqi citizens who are in such desperate need. But… this is the same Jordan that allowed Iraqi supplies to pass into Israel in order to maintain their current Intifadah against the Jews.
We can see the nations of the earth, in the name of peace, are undermining Israel and America. So - will the real friends of democracy please stand up?
To be continued . . .
