ISRAEL UPDATEAugust 29, 2004 - The security fence / wall in Israel has come under constant, intense scrutiny – found illegal – and against international law by the European Union, among others. Nevertheless, the facts speak for themselves… the year 2002 had 25 suicide attacks that killed 141 Israelis… this time last year there were 20 bombings, killing 147 Israelis. So far this year only two bombings have killed 19 people.
Perhaps you did not know that the European Union is building a wall to protect her latest members, Poland and Hungary, from the immigrants of Russia, mostly from the Ukraine and Belarus regions… Apparently, it is acceptable to build their own fence, even using the services of a top-notch Jewish company too - while they criticize Israel for hers…
While it is true the wall cannot stop the use of mortars and Katyusha rockets, one cannot ignore the decreased death toll. This is not just on the Israeli side, but on the Palestinian side as well. The fence works…
No doubt, Poland and Hungary do not desire a flood of immigrants. However, in comparison to extremist terrorists wreaking havoc upon a nation's economy and destroying innocent civilians; this should be weighed against the hypocrisy of the world system that attacks Israel for her actions.
Financially, the fence itself costs Israel $1 million per kilometer, while the bases, transfer points, observation, and command posts add another $2 million per kilometer in expenses.
This huge financial expenditure shows the world Israel's motives in the preservation of life - literally at all costs. This proves the Jewish nation deserves commendation rather than condemnation - but that will not happen while the United Nations and the European Union continually sit in judgment on Israel's actions.
August 29, 2004 - Chapter One of Lamentations begins with the once glorious city of Jerusalem sitting isolated and rejected – a place where people of commerce and pilgrims once crowded the busy pathways to the Holy City. They are gone and those pathways are empty.
The further Jerusalem and Judah strayed from G-d, the more isolated and rejected they became - to the point of despair.
What do Americans fear today? Certainly financial collapse, as the events of 9-11 initially cost this nation over $1 billion, not to mention the War on Terror that followed and continues to this day.
Is America isolated? Think back to a nation such as Spain who refused to give us airspace to fly missions against Moammar Khaddafi. Remember the opposition of France, Germany, and some Arab States when we tried to deal with Saddam Hussein - both times?
One wrong decision made by our nation regarding the Middle East could cut off our oil supply - crippling our economy and severely curtailing our personal activities.
Nations do not flock to America for her products and services, rather it is vice-versa; they build for us and we pay them. This causes our independence to slowly whither away…
How did these events unfold in biblical Israel, and then again in America? Quite simply stated, when we move away from G-d, we not only lose His blessing, but His wisdom as well. This is a recipe for disaster.
Lamentations 1:21 tells us, “They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me.” The enemies of Israel rejoiced then, as America’s are today – as we are following the same path…
