ISRAEL UPDATEDecember 12, 2004 – Recently, members of a large Protestant denomination met with the leaders of the extremist terror group Hezbollah, i.e., the Party of God (Allah).
After making their overtures toward this very violent anti-Israel and anti-America rabid fundamentalist bunch of terrorists, this Christian group attempted to meet with the Israeli leadership (who declined).
They were unable to meet with a sovereign Lebanese government, as Syria has occupied that nation for nearly three decades. We know Hezbollah has practiced wholesale murder and persecution of Christians in the Lebanese enclave, while they continue to wage war against Israel.
These religious “do-gooders” remind us of II Peter 2:15, “Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness.”
Balaam could not speak a curse over Israel. However, he did teach them how to seduce Israel into idolatry - bringing about G-d's judgment.
These people represent a religious spirit, as they believe that by working with both sides a fair and equitable solution will be the result.
Tragically, whatever good they try to do, in reality they are doing nothing but bringing undue pressure on the State of Israel to make more concessions for less security.
These types of efforts not only destabilize the Middle East, they also complicate matters for the United States, as the world continues to rush full speed toward Armageddon.
December 12, 2004 - Since the tragic events of 9-11, some of the most repeated words uttered in America are, “G-d Bless America.”
As we have just completed Thanksgiving, with Christmas and New Year's Day approaching, we always talk about how much we have to be thankful for as Americans.
Yet what defines the heart of a truly godly person? The prophet wrote, “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls.” Habakkuk 3:17
The carnal person would not see these as reasons to praise G-d…
The prophet tells us what a godly person would do, “Yet I will rejoice in the L-RD, I will joy in the G-d of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:18
What is the reason we praise G-d? Is it because our bank account is fat, our portfolio is productive, and we have low interest rates?
On the other hand, do we reflect the godly attributes of contentment, resting in what G-d did for us, providing salvation? Alternatively, are we just so materialistic that we lose sight of what is truly important?
Obviously, we as a nation and even as Christian believers, do not grasp that there is no reason for us to ask G-d to bless our nation. . . as it sinks deeper into the sin and debauchery of self indulgence.
We are very likely heading for hard times in this country. We need to ask ourselves. . . What is our thankfulness based upon? Is it based on how good it is right now, or how good G-d is all the time?
To be continued…
