ISRAEL UPDATEJanuary 16, 2005 - We can expect the United Nations, the European Union, replacement theologians, and other secular thinkers to rejoice over the enemies of Israel making overtures of peace.
However, when people that are pro Israel start rejoicing, it is cause for concern. We are referring to a broadcast that aired this past month.
The man on the radio stated that Syrian President Bashar Assad is redeploying troops from strategic posts in Lebanon and Syria as a gesture of kindness.
He is also kicking out some terror group leaders from his country, as he fears American reprisal – apparently, because he has seen the error of Saddam Hussein ways. He also wants to continue “helping” Iraq.
The radio show host closed his segment by saying this is a good thing for Israel, and for the rest of the world.
Soviet President Vladimir Putin and Mr. Assad have stated a common desire to help in troubled regions of the world… i.e., Israel. Perhaps the same way they helped in Lebanon...
Nevertheless, aside from the geopolitical terrain, we must look at the Bible, as it is very clear on the subject. Overtures of peace only bring war… noted in Daniel 9:24-27 and I Thessalonians 5:1-3.
Syria and Iran are still the terror connection. These countries and Russia all figure into Bible prophecy - as nations that seek to destroy Israel in the last days. It is hard to comprehend that someone who supports Israel would say that this is a good thing for her and the rest of the world. It is obvious that deception is working…
January 16, 2005 - French Prime Minister Jacques Chirac has made it clear that he wants to eliminate identifiable forms of religious clothing in French schools for all religious groups.
Chirac is determined to return France to its secular roots, the same direction of much of the rest of the European continent.
One cannot help but to look at her closest neighbors and remember names such as Wesley, Spurgeon, Bunyan, Wycliffe, Calvin, and Luther.
However, sadly the nations that once gave birth to great spiritual leaders are turning secular, just like France, the one founded secular. The others, the United Kingdom, Scotland, and Switzerland are turning secular. As we watch these events unfold, we see that through economics, political structure, and the removal of religious influence, Europe is quickly becoming a unified entity.
These trends tell us that we are even now observing the prophetic panorama of G-d unfold with incredible speed and uncanny accuracy. If we did not have G-d’s word, it would be very difficult to comprehend.
The borders of Europe are disappearing as people travel from nation to nation, while the definitive boundaries of culture and religion are melting away just as quickly.
Looking at the seven churches of Revelation chapters 2 and 3, we are told there will be both a true professing church and an apostate one. The apostate church is both ecumenical and secular - paving the way for Antichrist…
