ISRAEL UPDATE

February 20, 2005 - The recent peace summit held in Egypt between the United States, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority has proven to be very beneficial to the Palestinians - as the American and Jewish nations relinquish hundreds of millions of dollars, plus control of the Gaza.

Further, at least 500 imprisoned terrorists were released, an outline of an independent Palestinian state was presented, as well as a host of other concessions given to newly elected Mahmoud Abbas, Palestinian President.

On the other side of the table, what did the U.S./Israeli coalition receive for all of their generosity?  Not much… They received the verbal promise of Mr. Abbas that he will try to stop the violence constantly perpetrated by radical Palestinian terror groups.

If he cannot give more than a promise, and if Israel’s secured territory only shrinks, then he will be successful in surrounding the Jewish state with thousands of well-armed radicals.

How will the Abbas government be able to control groups like Hamas and Fatah – who comprise nearly 100 percent of the parliamentary seats?  Incidentally, these groups do not recognize Israel's right to exist, nor even the Palestinian Authority themselves…

With the death of Yasser Arafat, I recently wrote an article detailing how the Palestinians would want a quiet, well dressed terrorist to continue the juggernaut… that was designed for Israel's destruction.

“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”  I Thessalonians 5:3

February 20, 2005 - We know we' are living in dangerous times when the focal point of what people do and how they act is up to public opinion.

For example, a poll is taken to see if it matters if our athletic heroes or Hollywood stars take drugs to enhance their performance.

Some years ago, our nation was rocked by the sexual promiscuity of a former president and his blatant attitude when confronted.

In these cases, and many more, we are certain to find a large section of the population that says it is the individuals’ business.  The standard reply is, “leave them alone, or what difference does it make?”

It makes a difference!  That is because G-d has plenty to say about these matters, because it is sin.  He cares about what is said and done, and He certainly does not need to utilize the services of pollsters, pundits, or popular icons.

Isaiah 53: 6 states, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the L-RD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”  Sheep are notorious for their foolish behavior.  For instance, they will not drink water from a stream if it bubbles too much, or they will just sit and eat grass in one spot and until it is completely gone.

People caught up in the darkness and excess of sin will justify their actions as well as those that condone the same activities.  This is not because it is just, moral, or right, but because they are in unison.

However, one day every knee will bow and confess that Jesus is L-rd.  At that time, G-d's word will be the judgment criteria, not people's opinions or personal beliefs…

To be continued…
