ISRAEL UPDATEJune 5, 2005 - At the close of the Israeli War of Independence, Jerusalem was divided into three sections - Arab, Jewish, and International.
Not long after this momentous event, the nation of Jordan seized the International Section… all with nary a peep from the United Nations or the World Council of Churches.
For nearly the next two decades, International Jerusalem was desecrated, burned, while the graveyards and synagogues of the Jewish people were destroyed.
On June 7, 1967, after two days of bitter fighting, the Jews gained control of all Jerusalem and since then there have been no borders. People of all ethnic backgrounds and religions have passed freely – AND - no Arab worship sites were touched.
Today however, worldly wisdom and secular thinking is again seeking to internationalize Jerusalem. In other words, place it under Moslem control… in order to be free.
History shows that the most equitable way for Jerusalem to exist is to have the Holy City under sovereign Jewish control. Once again, they allow all others to move freely.
History also bears out that anytime the Jews are not in control, persecution, denial of rights, and desecration of religious sites are the order of the day. The city by which G-d placed His name and blessing then becomes divided geographically and spiritually divisive. This is the exact opposite of what G-d desires for the apple of His eye.
June 5, 2005 - One of the saddest commentaries on Christianity over the last 1700 years has been the cycles of singling out the Jews. In modern times, the nation of Israel is used as its whipping post.
Sad to say that the church, not as a whole, but unfortunately the great majority, seem to think by chastising G-d's chosen people it will correct the world's ills.
If you were to review church history, you would realize that the church is in one of its own dark, anemic conditions. When this happens, the Church as an entity has little or no positive influence on the world.
It is also sad to say that this misguided piety transforms itself into hateful rhetoric and violent actions.
The Crusades, the pogroms, the Inquisitions, the Reformation, the Holocaust, and even today's attacks against Israel, have had foundations in supposed Christian theology.
Today, as Israel is surrounded by the threat of militant insurgents, along with the potential of atomic, biological, and chemical warfare… the nations of the world prepare for her destruction. Many “Christian” leaders and organizations are right smack in the middle of the foray.
Paul warned of this attitude in Romans 11:21, “For if G-d spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.”
As a believer, we need to be supporting Israel, addressing our common interests and issues. G-d's plan is coming into place and we need to be on the correct side…
