ISRAEL UPDATE

June 19, 2005 – The Jews of Yemen have been one of the most isolated groups since the dispersion of the Jews after the destruction of the temple in 70 C.E.

With the rebirth of the modern State of Israel, the Jews of Yemen – like all others – felt the tug in their hearts to return to Eratz Israel, the land G-d gave them.

Operation Magic Carpet used modern aircraft to ferry thousands of them from Yemen to Israel, in quick fashion, so to speak.

The concern was that this isolated group was not familiar with the modern amenities of life, so they might be hesitant to board the aircraft, a marvel to them.

Not true… when these steel birds arrived, these Yemenite Jews got on these planes without hesitation. Why? Because the Scriptures had promised that they would be born up on eagle’s wings. (Exodus 19:4)

Thus, they viewed these modern vehicles of transportation as the facilitator to perform what G-d’s Word had promised for their deliverance!

How ironic… that in an age of “information glut,” people question G-d’s plan for His covenant land… yet those in primitive lands accept it without any reservation.

G-d’s Word does not just speak, it also provides the means to complete His Word. This should be an encouragement to all believers in these Last Days…

June 19, 2005 – The heartbreak of the Apostle Paul is heard so distinctly when he writes, “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world…” (II timothy 4:10a)

Apparently the promise of G-d’s Word and His faithfulness in blessing Paul’s ministry were not taken into account before Demas departed…

There again, if we think about it, Demas not only left Paul’s ministry, but the real truth of the matter is that he just quit serving G-d.

Today, there are plenty of faith preachers, motivational speakers, and “troubadours” of positive thinking, who will all but guarantee you everything - health, success, and prosperity if you are a believer.

We only need to read and study Hebrews Chapter 11 to realize that these “positive” thinkers are misrepresenting the Word of G-d and the walk of the true believer.

Let us all know and understand that the essence of the believer’s walk is to take up our cross and follow Him… “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” (Matthew 10:38) Other references are found in Matthew 16:24, Mark 8:34, 10:21, and Luke 9:23, 14:27.

There are no guarantees of an easy walk as a believer; however, there is the promise of Jesus being with us through it all. The reward for those that remain faithful – something that Demas and others have lost sight of – will be well worth life’s trials…

To be continued…
