ISRAEL UPDATEJuly 10, 2005 – At the end of October 1956, Israel, with the help of England and France, launched a pre-emptive strike into Egypt.
This was because Egypt was allowing terrorists to operate from her territory, and also due to the fact that she had closed the Straits of Tiran – shutting off a vital shipping artery.
U.S President Dwight D. Eisenhower denounced Israel’s action – going so far as to compare her actions to that of the Soviet Union’s crushing of the Hungarian Revolt in late October – early November of that same year.
Richard Nixon was Vice President during this time. Years later, he related that Eisenhower actually agreed with Israel’s action – realizing that it was necessary. He said the real reason that condemnation was issued was because it was an election year, and Eisenhower wanted to be re-elected.
One cannot help but wonder how much of what has transpired in the last 60 years, i.e., spoken about, voted upon and decisions made – has been politically motivated or done in the name of political correctness. No doubt much more than we think…
The political and religious leaders of our world are coming to the point where and when they will have to do what is right, not what is popular or “hot” at the moment.
If America continues this trend, we will find ourselves with G-d looking down in dissatisfaction. His hand of blessing will be removed, regardless of man’s efforts. As a nation, it is time for the United States to do what is right…
July 10, 2005 – Just prior to the turn of the 20th Century, a group of leaders in England took time to evaluate their nation’s rebellion, upheaval, and general anarchy.
Their solution to solve the woes of society was simple… give people houses to live in for next to nothing. Then, establish a system that would educate all of these restless souls. To top it off, establish a universal health care system.
After meeting the needs of their people on a humanitarian level, plus feeding them intellectually and caring for their physical needs, all would have been well, except for two events… World Wars I and II.
The post war era (the Cold War), would be followed by more unrest and upheaval among the masses. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones would become the mouthpieces of a new generation. Today, the story continues on, basically unchanged. However, an interesting point is that many of these men have been knighted for their “contributions.”
It would appear that a new generation of people always comes along trying the same things, but expecting different results.
“Then Simon Peter answered him, L-rd, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living G-d.” John 6:68-69
As long as man leaves G-d out of the equation, things do not change. However, to those that choose to follow Jesus, peace and satisfaction is the result.
To be continued…
