ISRAEL UPDATEAugust 14, 2005 – It has been said that the nuclear age began when the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.
However, America’s intentions to use the bomb were not immediate, but required the collection of materials, employees, and testing to come to the stage of implementation.
Fast-forward from 1945 to 2001, and recall the statement, “Now the War on Terror has begun.”
Reading in a book several years ago, it stated the first Palestinian sent to an American university for the purpose of training in terror was in the year 1964. That was just prior to the creation of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO).
The real war on terror started with the OPEC oil embargo of 1974. Afterwards, the Palestinian issue was used in the Camp David I meeting of 1978, and very much so in the Camp David II meeting of 2000.
During the early 1980’s and throughout the 1990’s, our embassies and military barracks were attacked several times by Islamic fundamentalists. President Reagan was warned in 1986 of potential attacks on the skyscrapers of New York City.
In comparison, Japan sent her military personnel to be trained a full decade before the attack on Pearl Harbor, while the Islamic terrorists started in 1964, over 40 years ago.
Officially, our War on Terror did begin on 9-11-2001, although the great majority of people were not aware of it at the time – just as most people in the 1940’s did not comprehend Japan’s intentions until it was too late…
August 14, 2005 – Have you noticed the fear that is spreading throughout our country now that our susceptibility to nuclear, biological, and chemical threats has become more publicized and well known?
It is ironic that the Truman Administration, along with the U.S. military leadership of that time, thought that the use of atomic weaponry would deter any further attacks on American soil.
The Nuclear Age started in the decade of the 40’s, with American and German scientists scrambling to put together atomic bombs.
Many years later, after Russia entered the race, now many established nations, rogue countries, various splintered factions, and terrorist organizations have gathered the technology. This gives them the ability and potential for ABC (atomic, biological, chemical) warfare.
In observing these events, it is unfortunate that we see that people are more concerned with the dangers of mass destruction, rather than the prospect of the Omnipotent G-d of the Universe passing Judgment on mankind…
“But the day of the L-rd will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” (II Peter 3:10 KJV)
G-d’s infallible Word tells us that not just the evil world will be destroyed, but the works as well. We must look to His Word for enlightenment, understanding that when it comes to His Judgment, the weapons are only a product of man’s ingenuity.
One day we shall all stand and give account, weapons of mass destruction or not…
