ISRAEL UPDATE

August 28, 2005 – As this article is written, once again there is much turmoil and anguish in Israel due to withdrawal from another piece of land. Many people continue to ask what my thoughts are concerning this volatile issue, so allow me to be completely frank about it… I am totally confused.

Why? For starters, the two biggest voices against terror, i.e., the two nations who have been struck on their own soil by Islamic fundamentalists, have not only arranged this scenario, but pushed it through to completion.

These two countries that have spent billions of dollars, and have sent thousands of soldiers to fight terror, are the same ones that demand of Israel to concede to the same type of people. What’s wrong with this picture?

One week prior to the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, British Prime Minister Tony Blair boldly declared that he would deport Muslim clerics who preached violence. For your information Mr. Blair, that has been going on in Israel since the Oslo Accords fiasco.

Even after the single tragic event we suffered on that autumn morning in September, our President seems intent on allowing Hamas and Fatah to operate in a “business as usual” fashion in Israel.

The misnomer called the “peace process” in Israel has taken a huge step backwards – as the leading countries in the world force this tiny Jewish nation into doing what can only endanger her. This sends a clear message to all the terrorists in the world: as long as we kill and Israel gives us land, terror does pay…

Unfortunately, you can count on the fact that their terrorist activities will continue, with the indirect blessings of the U.S. and the U.K.

August 28, 2005 – When G-d revealed Himself to Moses through the burning bush, He was emphatic in stating His character, “And G-d said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM:” (Exodus 3;14a KJV)

By defining Himself as Yahweh, He was saying that His eternal, dynamic, and self-existent being, was dependant on none, nor created by any.

He did not tell Moses that He was Yahweh-Jireh (the G-d that Provides), or Yahweh-Shalom (the G-d of Peace), or any of the many names of G-d.

It was through the life of Moses and the wandering in the wilderness by the Children of Israel that they would learn all the attributes of G-d. This was accomplished by Him in all of His dealings with them through His protection, provision, and several other ways.

Today, first and foremost, the Christian believer needs to understand the essence of G-d’s nature. We must do more than just walk with Him - we must also trust and commit all to Him.

G-d doesn’t always give us friendship during times of loneliness, provision in time of need, or healing in time of sickness – as we think He should.

However, He does prove Himself over and over that He is that eternal self-existent One in Whom we can trust forever. So, let Him heal, provide, and bring peace to our troubled spirits. Be content to trust Him to be what He was to Moses… G-d!
