ISRAEL UPDATE

October 9, 2005 – Thirty-two years ago at this very time the nation of Israel was fighting literally for her life after a surprise attack by the combined armies of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, and support from many other Arab nations.    After facing total collapse Israel was able to regroup, repulse the attack and ultimately ended up threatening Cairo and Damascus with a strong military presence.

The big difference was Israel had a significant buffer zone, the entire Sinai Peninsula, Gaza, an intact Judea and Samaria as well as the Golan Heights, but that was 3 decades ago.

Today terror factions are massing on Israel’s border on the west, after she has given up the Sinai, Gaza, and chunks of Judea and Samaria.  So quite literally Israel, after all of her land concessions, has L-rd only knows how many highly trained, well-armed fanatics within plain sight because Israel has been forced to give up not just her buffer zone but her covenant land as well.

While the world is crying peace and safety let me quote the prophet’s words, “My bowels, my bowels, I am pained at my very heart, my heart maketh a noise within me, I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard oh my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.”

October 9, 2005 – There are a lot of bumper stickers quoting Albert Einstein that state, “You cannot simultaneously prepare for war and peace at the same time.”   Yet, so many of the nations clamoring for peace are some of the largest dealers of military weaponry there are today.

How ironic that those crying out for peace and safety are literally through vain deceit and policy of men as well as the distribution of arms pushing the whole world to a place called Armageddon.  True, most people are focusing on the atomic, biological and chemical weapons but let us not forget how brutal and harsh conventional weaponry is as well.

If one didn’t know better we could say that all is lost or can we really?  We can view the world situation with two handles, we can grab the handle of despair or we can grab the handle of hope.

Jesus prophesied all these things and more would be part of the landscape of human events but He also said, “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads for your redemption draweth nigh.”  Luke 21:28

The question is, which handle will you grab?
