ISRAEL UPDATEOctober 30, 2005 – On October 29, 1956 the Israel Defense Force launched Operation Kadesh, a preemptive strike into Egypt due to their closing of the Straits of Tiran choking off Israeli shipping lanes.
However, the entire first half of that decade saw countless terrorist attacks against Israeli civilian populace and Israeli reprisals.
It is not hard to see a nation such as Egypt using first military and then political clout to strike at the Jewish state. And still further Egyptian controlled Gaza was a staging area for a war of attrition then terror.
I know many will point to Egypt as the first Arab nation to make peace with Israel but few know that Egypt and Iraq were going to jointly attack Israel simultaneously. Since that time even with Egypt’s peace treaty terrorists have dug tunnels from the Egyptian side in order to smuggle weapons, ammunition and supplies.
Now with Israel completely out of Gaza we see that Israel is no better off than in 1948, 1956, 1967 or 1973 prior to wars where Egypt was defeated and Israel had a geographic buffer zone.
How people think relinquishing more land is going to buy peace, guarantee Israel’s safety or cause coexistence between two nations is not just ludicrous it is literally fatal.
October 30, 2005 – On one side of the Granius River stood Darius and his Medeo-Persian army arrayed for battle Standing on the other side of the river stood Alexander and his Grecian warriors likewise poised for the inevitable confrontation.
Darius sent ten of his personal relatives attempting to negotiate “peaceful resolutions” with threatening general hoping lives and his kingdom would be spared. The reply of Alexander was short and direct, “The heavens are not large enough for two suns, neither is the earth large enough for two masters.”
Ultimately Darius was defeated, but then the Grecian domination of the World did not last long as the Roman Empire came on to the scene. Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, the Czars of Russia, Kaiser and Hitler of Germany, Mussolini up to today drug lords, Islamic rulers, and communist nations all saw or see themselves as ruling the world endlessly.
Nevertheless we have the assurance in G-d’s word that the rule and reign of Jesus will not be a brutal dictatorship but one of glory. Speaking of Jesus the prophet wrote in Isaiah 9:7, “Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom to order it and establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the L-rd of Hosts will perform this.”
Alexander was correct, there is only room for one and it will be Jesus forever!
