ISRAEL UPDATE

November 20, 2005 – The scriptures clearly state, “The L-rd is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”  II Peter 3:9.  Knowing that, why is there so much debate about all of the things happening; is it because G-d is this big, bad judge and jury?  Yet, we read Matthew chapters 24 and 25, and we know these things are signs of a coming Savior and are part of His ultimate plan.

The Psalmist wrote, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted that I might learn thy statutes.” Psalm 119:71.

The Bible is chocked full of examples of man and nations making poor decisions, making false alliances, lapsing into idolatry, and their continual hardening of their hearts, refusing correction and repentance.

There is no doubt that all of these tragic events offer tremendous opportunities for evangelism and comfort.  However, it also causes us to reflect on all sixty-six books of the Bible and ponder whether G-d could be trying to get our collective attention.  Perhaps we as individuals, families, churches and a nation start looking at ourselves and stop blaming or questioning G-d.

November 20, 2005 – Israeli gun ships were ordered into action multiple times in October due to the continual launching of Kassanm rockets and mortar rounds into Israeli territory.

The withdrawal from Gaza, hailed as a huge step toward peace, has proven that with the rockets targets can be attacked from a safe distance and the use of mortars indicates a much closer proximity leaving the Israeli populace more vulnerable that ever.

One aspect of writing weekly columns that is satisfying is to be able to state in advance many times what will happen in the Middle East.  This is not done in the sense of me designating myself as a prophet but rather the cold, cruel reality of how man’s plans for peace have only proven disastrous when they choose to ignore G-d’s word and sovereign plan.

The proof is in the fact that Israel, since 1979, has relinquished the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza, as well as parts of Judea and Samaria and all she has to show for it is a toll of dead and wounded and her enemies close enough to  shoot mortar rounds into civilian populated areas.

Moreover, while all this is going on the pseudo-democratic Palestinian State has itself become a turf war between rival Palestinian terror groups.

In a nutshell the noose is tightening around Israel, terrorists are running wild, the whole region could explode in a second and all this is done by those that call themselves strategists and experts.
