ISRAEL UPDATE

January 1, 2006 - As I follow modern Israel’s struggle for survival, I find myself many times asking, “G-d, How long before you deal with Israel’s enemies?”  Of course, in this dialogue I am constantly reminded of G-d’s sovereignty and just how accurately His plan is unfolding right on time.

Pharaoh killed what he thought was all of the male population in Egypt, then Herod again tried the same thing but in each case the one designated by G-d lived to carry out His plan.

The dispersions, pogroms, even the Holocaust might have brought pain, suffering, and even death yet G-d has always preserved a remnant.  Man’s best-laid planes have never in recorded history been able to totally eradicate the Jewish presence in the world and modern day Israel will be no exception.

If we review the writing of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and the Minor Prophets, we in fact see G-d’s plan carried through and the millennial kingdom of Christ with Israel as the head and not the tail.

As this new year begins I’m sure many monumental changes will come in Israel that do not look good to the natural eye but don’t forget the G-d of Israel still sits on the throne and He isn’t finished with His covenant land or people yet!  He will be faithful.

January 1, 2006 – Yesterday was it, the final day of the year, the cut off date for automobile, business machinery, purchases and tax-deductible donations and inventory reductions.  Many will sit down, review the past year, see failures, lost opportunities, reflect on successes and hope to improve in the coming twelve months.  Yet with all the careful review and preparation, there still is a part of the future that to each of us is unknown.

We cannot know what sickness, financial woes or personal distresses that can and will eventually come our way.  However, that should not cause us to fear because we know in whom we trust and it is in that trust we are sustained; because of G-d’s goodness and His sovereignty.

Isaiah 26:3 states, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee.”  The perfect peace spoken of here is a complete wholeness gained by our faith in G-d and His past performances in our lives.

In my lifetime, I can’t think of a time that has ever been a more wicked, corrupt, and unsure politically and economically as the time we live in.   Yet the scriptures both Original and New Testament are full of stories and examples of a faithful G-d who provided for His faithful servants in spite of the time they lied in, so let us all learn to trust G-d.
