ISRAEL UPDATE
January 15, 2006 – This past week Televangelist Pat Robertson again rocked the world when he stated is so many words that Israel Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s physical condition is the judgment of G-d for giving up portions of G-d’s chosen land.
If that is the case, would this not include President George Bush, former presidents Clinton, Bush, Reagan as well as Prime Minister Tony Blair who all pushed the peace process during Sharon’s term in office?
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Benjamin Netanyahu appear to be fairly healthy as does Shimon Perez, and all negotiated land concession.
First, the Israeli political system, already shaky, has taken a severe blow with Sharon’s illness and the outcome of the March elections will no doubt have a prolific effect on modern Israel’s place in the world.
Second, with the country in limbo over the status of their ill leader, it could cause terror groups to feel like they have a green light to resume even to accelerate attacks, a frightening proposal indeed.
Finally, Gaza is not only politically a madhouse but the terrorists in the area feel no restraint attacking Israel.
Coupled with Russia’s sales of rockets to Syria, the media not condemning terror attacks and Al Qaeda claiming responsibility for a missile attack in the Galilee, perhaps Mr. Robertson’s time and energy should be devoted to rallying prayer and support for Israel instead of speculating on circumstances. Israel is in need of love and support now more than ever.
January 15, 2006 – One Jewish Midrash refers to Armilus (Anti Christ) as a “mysterious satanic king” and again we see this in the Bible as relevant.
Parallel language again from Paul’s writings confirms this, “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.” II Thess. 2:7
In fact, this evil being cannot be understated as Paul further states, “Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called G-d or that is worshipped: so that he is G-d sitteth in the temple of G-d shewing himself that he is G-d.” II Thess. 2:4
What could ever be a greater act of sin than for this being to set himself in the Holy of Holies not only claiming to be G-d but demanding to be worshipped?
His opposition and attempted replacement of all that is called G-d shows the total depravity as all members of the G-dhead are blasphemed. G-d as creator, Jesus as Savior of the world and the Holy Spirit, the essence of all truth are the proposed targets of this evil, worldly system.
A “mysterious Satanic king” shows us that although powerful will have a limited rule but before his destruction his reign will be shrouded in mystery.
This is in exact opposition to the operation of G-d as he considered it to be “a glory to reveal to those that seek him.” Prov. 25:2. Thankfully, we are not looking for the Anti Christ, the “mysterious satanic king” but Jesus, King of Kings and L-rd of L-rds.
