ISRAEL UPDATE

March 12, 2006 – People often ask me just how serious is the current situation in the Middle East or is it just being blown out of proportion?

It is important to consider that there is a strong possibility that Iraq could still be overthrown and end up being controlled by the radical Shi‘ite faction.  Egypt and Jordan both pose a threat to the region as both of these countries could just as easily lose control of their nations to other forms of radical Islam as well.

Pakistan, although labeled as a pro U.S. government, still has a population base that is very Islamic, anti U.S. and al Qaeda operates freely along its borders without restriction and their government could be toppled much like Iran in 1979.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates all have made friendly overtures to the United States but continue to financially support terror groups.

The reality of an independent, democratic state in the region other than Israel went down the tube in 1975 as Lebanon, in reality, lost her sovereignty with the Syrian intervention during her civil war.

We must remember that whether it is a radical nation such as Syria and Iran or the “moderate” Gulf States, they hate Israel and anyone that supports them.  Any political, religious or financial leader that tells you otherwise only fulfills prophecy as evil is called good and men declare peace and safety but the opposite will come from these nations.

March 12, 2006 – As I write about the events of prophecy and the Middle East on a weekly basis much of it could be construed as being negative so I attempt to bring the scriptural relevance to all situations to offer encouragement.

Zechariah 12:10 states, “The burden of the word of the L-rd for Israel saith the L-rd which stretcheth forth the heavens and layeth the foundation of the earth and formed the spirit of man within him.”  Undoubtedly, this is one of the most clear, defining scriptures of G-d and states just how much He is in control.

First, G-d declares His eternal purpose for Israel, no replacement with the church because of sin and rejection of the Messiah.

Second, the complete aspect of the creation process including both heaven and earth - no intelligent design - only His creative power and will.

Finally, the declaration not just of creation but G-d’s direct personal intervention and interaction is with and for man.

In a never ending world polluted by an apostate belief system of religion, man’s brutal domination by violence and military intervention coupled with political corruption who, wouldn’t lose hope looking at all of this through man’s concept.

Nevertheless, the G-d of the universe is in complete control and the believers in G-d’s word can grab a hold of the handle of hope as we open the door leading to the future knowing our trust is in G-d alone!
