ISRAEL UPDATE

September 3, 2006 – U.N. Resolution 1701 is supposed to be the glue that holds the tenuous ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon together, but it will fail miserably.

What chances are there for peaceful resolutions when Iranian money is poured into the war torn southern Lebanon finding favor with the populace and giving the world a “positive image.”   In the plan for helping Lebanon secure corridors to deliver humanitarian relief, rest assured Hezbollah will find ways to smuggle weaponry and supplies thus prompting Israel to intervene.

How will this international peace keeping force fair any better than their predecessors?  First, because of prejudice toward the Islamic factions, second, any lengthy stay will wear down nations resolve. 

United Nations Resolutions #242 and #338 both put in place after Israel’s 1967 Six Day War has yet to recognize the Jewish State as a sovereign entity.  Resolution #1559 has yet to neither remove all Syrian forces from Lebanon nor dismantle all militias.  

Put into place all the resolutions you want, in the end they are not worth the paper they are written on.   This is not cynicism but is actual reflection of a generations worth of failure because the world is operating opposite of G-d’s plan in Genesis 12:3 – blessing those that bless Israel, until then failure is all we can expect.

 

September 3, 2006 – According to the calendar we now find ourselves between the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the five year anniversary of September 11, 2001. 

Katrina according to some experts could have been avoided or its results greatly diminished if precautions would have been taken in advance.

9-11 on the other hand was a man made disaster and like Katrina probably could have had its results diminished if not avoided, again, if precautions had been taken.

Both of these incidents had a great affect on our nation’s psyche and the financial losses have been both staggering and had long range implications. 

Were they G-d’s judgments on a nation that has drifted so far away from its Biblical center?  Then again some say these events happened as a demonstration of G-d’s grace to bring our nation’s populace to repentance.

Perhaps the greatest single question that should be asked is how did each of us respond after these and many other events occurred. 

The definition of the Christian life style is measured according to G-d’s word and our understanding and demonstration in deed, so Katrina, 9-11 or future events; we must all ask ourselves what G-d would have us do!
