ISRAEL UPDATE

September 24, 2006 – In Genesis 23:2,15,16 the scriptures tell us that Abraham purchased a burial plot for his wife, a transaction made by a man promised by G-d to inherit that very land.

King David purchased the threshing floor in Jerusalem a place for the children of Israel to offer sacrifices to G-d, where Abraham offered Isaac, II Samuel 24:20-25.

The prophet Jeremiah was instructed by G-d to purchase a piece of land for his family’s inheritance after their return from the Babylonian exile, Jeremiah 32:9-15.

Today the literal and verbal war rages on in modern Israel over who has the right to the land.  There are two factors the world is not including in the equation.  First it is G-d’s land, He created it and this divine ownership.  Second the scriptures are clear from Genesis to Revelation that this hotly contested piece of real estate has been promised to Israel.

The fact that these three godly men actually purchased the land does not indicate they took possession from G-d but rather they displayed acts of integrity establishing credibility.

G-d’s covenant sealed by His promise and men’s obedience lets us know bragging rights do not a godly inheritance make!

September 24, 2006 – My son Jonathan is truly the consummate baseball fan and continues to amaze me at how much he knows about the game.

Last season he emphatically stated that World Series hero Luis Gonzalez would in fact be gone from the Diamond Backs roster before this current seasons end.

My son’s assessment comes from following all aspect of the game, watching patterns, seeing needs for specific positions to be filled and the reality of nothing in life being guaranteed.

The Christian believer today can rely on the sovereignty of G-d and knows that His will shall come to pass in spite of all the worlds’ upheaval.

We are assured in Malachi 3:6a, “For I am the L-rd, I change not.”

This message was reaffirmed by our Savior again in Hebrews 13:8, Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever.”

If there ever was a time when mankind was fickle it is today.  Athletes, entertainers, musicians rise and fall in popularity and are subject to trade, concerts cancelled, and trends changing faster than anyone can keep up with.

But G-d, the biggest phrase in the believer’s vocabulary lets us know our rock is steadfast, unmovable and we can about in the L-rd.
