ISRAEL UPDATE
November 19, 2006 – The Newsweek Magazine was dated November 20, 1986, the caption read, “Master of Terror” with a picture of then Syrian President Hafez al Assad in the right corner. The main portion of the cover shows men clad in fatigues, assault rifles slung across their shoulders describing the location being a secret terror training base in Syria.
If you were to read the article it was very specific in its describing forces ready to export terror to all areas where they felt obliged to “intervene.”
Syria’s ties to Russia and Iran have only strengthened in the past two decades and her amassing of arms, conventional and otherwise, is truly a frightening proposal to those without hope. However, a more frightening proposal of all this knowledge about Syria’s terror program is that they have basically gone unnoticed by the majority of the media and even our government. Khomeini of Iran, Qaudaffi of Libya, Hussein of Iraq and even Arafat of the Palestinians have received more notoriety than the Assads of Syria yet still, they pose the greatest threats.
As Russia, Iran, and Syria continue to build their war machine threatening Israel and the West, Ezekiel’s prophecy of Chapters 38 & 39 with Russia’s destruction and prophecy of Damascus being destroyed, Isa 17:1, we know G-d’s dealing with these nations is not due to their desire for peace nor their love for the nation of Israel.
November 19, 2006 – Most of the New Testament Epistles make reference to the apostate condition of the church during the period time referred to as the “last days.”
One glaring example was a 10,000 plus member mainline Protestant church that hosted a prophetic conference with keynote speakers Chuck Missler, David Hocking, Roger Oakland and Bill Koenig.
The Pastor of the church hosting the conference received several phone calls and letters demanding he cancel the event, fortunately he did not cave in to the pressure.
Of the 700-800 who attended the event only 50 to 75 were actual members of the church, the rest came due to advertising they received or because of knowing these men’s ministries.
Seeing this lack of interest in Bible Prophecy one cannot help but think of the words of so many of G-d’s servants down through time not just as the scriptures were being written but in the millennia following as those prophetic utterances have come to pass with uncanny accuracy:
Have eyes and ears but not seeing or hearing – Jeremiah 5:21
People being destroyed for a lack of knowledge – Hosea 4:6
People seeking teachers to soothe itching ears – II Timothy 4:3
And those mocking seeing signs asking where are the signs of His coming – II Peter 3:3.
These are but only a few examples of where the churches are, i.e. churches seeking the truth and praying and the apostate church, ignorant and uncovered.
To be continued…
