ISRAEL UPDATE

December 17, 2006 – If you have seen any news reports or read any periodicals you probably have seen James Baker and Lee Hamilton who are contributing their input on resolving the many crises in the Middle East.

Of course, history bears the cold hard fact that neither of these men are really what you could call “Israel friendly.”  Their expertise is supposed to be lent primarily to the Iraq Study Group and you can bet Israel will have to come into the mix.

Just listen to the reports coming from Damascus, Beirut, Cairo, Amman, Tehran and other capitals in the region which say that Israel is the fault.   Hamas and Fattah fight between themselves because of Israel?  Iran’s fanaticism is to be blamed on Israel?

Egypt’s fanatic Islamic Brotherhood or al Qaeda’s cycles of revenge also are blamed on the Jewish State’s existence.

The Bakers and Hamiltons on Capital Hill and the rest that are like-minded are repeatedly looking for a scapegoat to help solve the ills of the Middle East and place their name in the history books as the ultimate peacemakers.

Sadly though, without a biblical perspective of this issue sectarian violence, civil war and senseless civilian attack will continue without resolution.

December 17, 2006 – During the past mid-term election more than one politician made reference to President Bush as the “Emperor with no clothes.”  This derogatory slur would be laughable were it not for the gross disrespect for the office and the complete misrepresentation of the children’s story.

Those surrounding the Emperor of the story refused to tell the truth about the hideous selections of clothing their ruler selected to wear even to the point of wearing nothing at all.

Critics of our President on Capitol Hill are the exact opposite of those in the story, voicing their criticism, disapproval and disrespect on a continual basis regardless of the issue.

The gross perversion of the famous story attacking our President shows either a complete misrepresentation of the facts or no true knowledge of the application.  In either case the total disregard for our nation’s leaders and their continual lampooning by fellow politicians, media and entertainers will not bring the blessing of G-d to our nation.

I like how the Apostle Paul defined what our conduct should be in I Timothy 2:1-2, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
