ISRAEL UPDATE
December 24, 2006 – All eyes are on the Iraq Study Group as it evaluates the U.S. involvement in the troubled nation riddled by foreign occupation and civil war.
James Baker, one of the key figures, is the one that in 1990 lured President Assad of Syria into an anti Saddam Hussein stance, attacking one brutal dictator while ignoring the Syrian leader’s more dangerous terrorism alliance.
It was this move that gave Syria the chance to set up a pro-Syrian puppet government, a mockery of democracy and an empowering tool for Syria/Iran backed terror groups Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad.
Prior to our nation’s defense of Kuwait in 1990 Mr. Baker referred to Saddam Hussein as a “constructive leader.” While doing this he also referred to Israel as being an obstruction to the peace process yet refused to acknowledge Arafat’s terrorist record and legitimized him as a relevant part of the peace process.
During all this “negotiation” guaranteed loans (not cash) designated for Israel to help absorb masses of Soviet Jewish immigrants were frozen placing a huge burden on the Jewish State.
Former Presidents such as Jimmy Carter, and other leaders such as James Baker and Lee Hamilton are all heralded as experts on the Middle East and yet their anti Israel stance has only bolstered terrorist nations and simultaneously debased America and Israel, thus it is not Israel that is the problem but rather it is our foreign policy.
December 24, 2006 – The age of cultural sensitivity is upon us, we are in the touchy-feely do-gooder phase of our nation, we can’t or shouldn’t say this or do that or display this because it is offensive to someone.
How many people that believe in a biblical account of creation are offended by the car insurance company’s portrayal of a cavemen contributing to mankind?
Yoga has found its way into every phase of the media and people continually refer to the principal of throwing out good or bad Karma which is contrary to the beliefs of so many in our nation.
Nativity scenes, Ten Commandment displays and crosses displayed on private or public property offend some but tell me the last time you saw fundamental evangelical Christianity respected or properly portrayed by elements of our national media.
During this time of the year it is a tragedy to have so much controversy about “offensive displays” rather than pursuing the spirit of the season. Jesus clearly stated to us “If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.” John 15:18 NKJ.
Christmas, Easter or whatever time of year, the offense of Jesus and the cross goes back two millennia and like it or not that spirit is alive and well, but we must carry on.
To be continued…
