ISRAEL UPDATE

March 25, 2007 – Iran, Syria and Lebanon continue to prove to be a thorn in the side of Israel’s population civilian, military and political.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Peretz will be the target on an upcoming inquiry as to their handling of last summer’s war in Lebanon, and it appears this will be negative to say the least.

This could or could not spell the end of the Olmert tenure but even if it doesn’t the distress caused within the tiny nation will not help the situation which by the way is escalating again.

The series of Syria trenches and bunkers in southern Syria are now housing hundreds if not thousands of medium and long range missiles hidden in silos that are very difficult to detect.

I’m sure knowing this the Syrian demand for Israel to return the Golan Heights is ludicrous to say the least.

Barely two weeks ago Israel was decried for having a fortress mentality and that to live in peace with her neighbors needed to give up more land and establish a Palestinian State.

With neighbors like Syria who wouldn’t have a “fortress mentality” because if this is peace what does the Arab League call war?  The prospects are frightening!

 

March 25, 2007 – Have we ever considered the historical pattern that brought us up to the current controversy over the Tomb of Jesus? 

From the Dark Ages to the Renaissance to the Reformation all resulted from the bringing Christian truth to Europe.  So it would only serve to reason that the Crusades would also have to come from these events.

Sad to say the Crusades truly are one of the darker chapters of church history not without controversy but the Crusaders were purposed to “deliver the holy sites from the hands of the infidels” i.e. Muslims

With varying degrees of success Christendom has kept the Garden Tomb in a place where pilgrims can come and go freely without hesitation or fear, and yet, as we head into the season when we celebrate the resurrection a spiritual not physical war is being fought over this same tomb.

Movies such as “The DaVinci Code” and “The Tomb of Jesus” only serve to remind us the war over the resurrection of Christ is not over.  However, the good news is if this topic is still such a controversy, we know Satan is threatened by this fact of history and attempts to say it is heresy, however, I know He is risen because He is in my heart!
