ISRAEL UPDATE

May 13, 2007 - May 14, 1948 the rebirth of the nation of Israel and a day that literally changed the world forever.

First, many votes in the United Nations were cast either out of guilt for the Holocaust or belief Israel would not survive an all out Arab assault or some even hoped that they would be destroyed regardless.

Second, the United State’s support of Israel became an instant issue with the Arab world and continues to be however, that concern has grown to encompass most of Europe, Asia and Africa as well.

The rebirth of Israel as a nation threw a serious wrench in the gears of a good portion of Christian theology, theory being G-d was done with the nation and the people he called and established.

One cannot describe the awe of standing on the soil of Israel in modern times and realize one issue hasn’t changed, that is G-d has stayed faithful to His word and His promise.  This being the case Jew and Christian alike can take a hold of the faithfulness of G-d in these troubled times and realize all is good.

The prophet wrote, “Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the L-RD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy G-d. Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:” Isaiah 66:8-10

Regardless of how people felt then or now about Israel G-d’s word blazes not just with accuracy but hope!

May 13, 2007 – The headlines of the tabloid on the grocery store rack were both intriguing and eye-catching as it told of one of multiple Hollywood super couples.  The dilemma, she loves her husband but she feels enclosed by her husband’s deep religious belief and practice.

This shows us but one more example of religious practice bringing conflict into a relationship.  Of course neither of these stars profess any type of born again relationship with Christ however, conflict is conflict.

Paul wrote so wisely in II Cor 6:14,15 not to be unequally yoked, why?  Because darkness and light hath no fellowshipped nor can Jesus and the Devil be in unison.

Too many times I have heard of or personally known the tragic stories of a “church kid” becoming involved with an unbeliever having children then all of the heart break continues for years as one wants to serve G-d and the other doesn’t.

Passages such as II Cor 6:14,15 have nothing to do with someone being better than another but even Hollywood’s hottest couple shows us conflict such as that is a difficult hurdle to clear and also can add a whole lot more stress that never had to be there.
