ISRAEL UPDATE
July 8, 2007 – There are always people trying to rewrite history when it comes to both ancient and modern Israel thereby altering people’s concept of G-d.
One such example states that the Israelites in Egypt were not abused slaves but rather mighty warriors assisting the Egyptians willfully. Perhaps at first they were willing but not warriors else why would G-d state He heard the cries of His people and had compassion unto them and acknowledged their need of a deliverer, Ex 2: 23-25.
If the Israelites were such astute warriors, why not overthrow Egypt, take possession of the nation and dominate? Yet as they are leaving peacefully it is the Egyptians that gave of all of their possessions to the “superior warriors” as in Ex 12:25.
Then one might ask if these people were such warriors, why would G-d intervene through the plagues and institute the Passover?
Finally if the Israelites were such vicious fighters why the panic when the Egyptians closed in on them at the Red Sea, Ex 14:10-30?
The children of Israel needed to be warriors after they entered into the Promised Land but prior to that G-d proved Himself to be the provider and protector. Liberal scholarship needs to stop trying to disprove G-d through rewriting history.
July 8, 2007 – Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair exited last week from the position he held as the United Kingdom leader for 10 years. Probably from the frying pan into the fire Blair now will be the point man designated to bring peace and unity to Gaza.
Blair will be facing a daunting task to say the least as he must unite Iran backed Hamas and U.S. backed Fatah into what many call a united democratic Palestinian State.
Of course, every time the Palestinians had peace agreements with Israel violence has erupted and Hamas and Fatah are staying true to form.
As violence continues to rage against Israel since Oslo I both Arafat and Abbas have blamed Israel.
Now the Palestinian “brothers” have taken up arms against each other so where does Israel fit in?
The Palestinians have long tauted themselves as “freedom fighters” but if that were the case why fight for freedom after you have an established State? One reason is because Mahmoud Abbas can now go to the world powers, beg for more money, and then use it to destroy Israel.
Unemployment, religious strife, and the grind of British political life might look good to Mr. Blair six months from now.
To be continued…
