ISRAEL UPDATE
August 26, 2007 – Prior to his death Hafez al Assad had made it plain he did not want his son Bashar to rule Syria after his death as he felt he was not strong enough. However, with the death of Bashar’s older brother in a car crash then his Father’s passing, he now sits as President of Syria.
The fervent anti Israel movement in Iran is also dissatisfied with Bashar Assad as reports coming from the region indicate the Tehran government wants a stronger, more radical leader in Damascus. Very sobering is this prospect when we realize just how bad Iran wants to eradicate the Jewish State completely even if nuclear war could destroy the lives and homeland of the Palestinians.
While Syria continues to build bunker trench complexes across her southern border and is armed to the teeth with destructive missiles still they negotiate over the Golan Heights. Hafez al Assad had spent his entire life through protracted war and terrorism seeking to destroy Israel but never succeeded and was extremely costly in both lives and materials to his nation.
Whether it is Bashar’s regime or a new more radical President in Syria the likelihood of nuclear war seems more of a possibility every day. One cannot help but read Isaiah 17:1 and realize this harsh reality, “The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.” Regardless of which person occupies the seat as ruler.
August 26, 2007 – Every year Rosh Ha Shanah, the Jewish New Year, comes bringing both solemnity and joy to those that observe the special day
Personally I love to spend time with my Jewish friends during this time of year and I also find some parallels in the scriptures for Christians. Sad to say, every Rosh Ha Shanah that comes and goes is accompanied by the special revelation that this is the day Jesus will return.
I Cor 15:51-53 and I Thess 4:16-17 indicates that the call of Christ for both those dead in Him and those that remain to be called by a trumpet (ram’s horn). Ps 81:3 states “Blow the trumpet at the time of the new moon, at the full moon, on our solemn feast day.”
More that one person has taken these verses and the other name for Rosh Ha Shanah, Yom Hakesh, which means to conceal or to hide, as proof positive this is the day we all long for, as this day was hidden from Satan.
This the day “hidden from Satan” Rosh Ha Shanah has now been revealed to a special person and now prefers to share that insight with the world.
Three times in Matthew 24 Jesus warned of false Christ’s and false prophets being on the scene prior to His return and even into the tribulation; the Rosh Ha Shanah spokesman fits this mold. Matt 24:36 is so clear that no man, the angels, or Christ Himself knows the day of His return.
Shanah Tovah (Happy New Year) and keep looking up, we don’t know when but we know it will happen.
To be continued…
