ISRAEL UPDATE
November 4, 2007 – When the prophet Jeremiah wrote of the impending judgment of G-d King Jehoiakim cut the scroll to pieces and threw it in the fireplace after only reading three or four columns. In fact, those close to the king implored him not to do such an evil thing. Then the same king demands Jeremiah and his scribe to be seized.
G-d, however, is undaunted by the king’s attitude, actions or assumptions that he can do what he wants to do and insists Jeremiah to “take another scroll and write on it all the former words that were in the first scroll which Jehoikim the king of Judah burned.” Jeremiah 36:28 NKJ
The prophet did as instructed. Eventually G-d’s judgment came and the brazen king was eliminated and G-d’s word again reigned supreme.
Around Thanksgiving time the Palestinian leadership and the Israeli representatives will again sit down and with the help of our nation’s leaders carve still another chunk of G-d’s covenant land and give it to murderers. As they do this they will violated a second clause of G-d helping to scatter His people in affect reading G-d’s word and throwing it into the fire.
They say it’s in the name of peace, declare it is for the establishment of democracy but whatever spin you put on it, it is rejecting G-d’ eternal plan.
Forty years ago this month the United Nations passed Resolution #242 seeking to take away the territory seized by Israel in the 1967 War and 40 years later the world is still rejecting G-d’s word.
November 4, 2007 – If we read the wise words of Solomon written so long ago we find that they truly speak of where we are as a nation and actually defines the world as a whole.
“Were there is no revelation the people cast off restraint. But happy is he who keeps the law.” Proverbs 29:18 NKJ
The Hebrew word for revelation actually speaks of revelatory vision that is a word from G-d coming to those exposed to His word. So as we watch the world as a whole casting off the moral restraints, eliminating every trace of G-d in our culture and legislation is passed condoning these actions the proof is in the pudding.
Today people want to cast off the restraints and want there to be no form of regulation until it is something said or done that offends them or their actions.
Without the revelation of G-d’s word there is no stability in the culture and without stability there can only be floundering and a quagmire with no solid footing. America finds itself on the slippery slope and the force of gravity is taking its toll, no restraints and we as a culture fall headlong into the vortex, void of reality.
The second half of Proverbs 29:18 states, “But happy is he who keeps the law,” and this is the positive side. Our nation has never been totally free from sin but there was a time of godly restraint and people rejoiced in G-d’s word. So even with all the bad we see look for G-d’s revelation and rejoice that the restraints of G-d are for our benefit making us both solid and stable.
