ISRAEL UPDATESeptember 16, 2001 - I have attempted to write an article about the World Trade Center tragedy at least 10 times and words fail me.
There is no way for me to express the sick feeling in my stomach as I watched the second plane slam into the second tower at breakneck speed and explode into an inferno.
Are there words that can adequately describe the chaos and mayhem of watching a city turn into a massive zone of death and destruction in a matter of minutes?
Confusion was rampant in the streets as people scrambled for cover when the towers collapsed into piles of rubble carrying thousands to their deaths.
People's emotions are running the full course, swinging from anger to rage to shock to a complete sense of helplessness.
Speculation occupies people's minds as we sit and ponder how far reaching the political, financial, and military implications will reach into the fabric of the world's cultures and nations.
Perhaps the greatest event looming on the horizon will be the pressure being brought to bear on our nations to re-evaluate their political alliances.
While all of our nation mourns and all of the nations of the world will be affected, Israel stands to lose the most as far as friendship, and America will lose out with G-d if we bow to political pressure and do what pleases man.
Yes, the landscape has changed forever geographically and spiritually as well.
September 16, 2001 - The skyline of New York City has been changed forever since the suicide bombing this past Tuesday; no one in that city, or even this country will be the same since this tragic event.
More importantly, we must look at the long-range possibilities that will be unfolding in the near future, because the political, financial, military and governmental landscape has forever changed.
With the first bombing of the World Trade Center, the Federal Building in Oklahoma City and now this week’s events, security has now become an issue.
Can we see the world's nations coming together, demanding a personal identification system for each person to validate their existence for "security reasons?"
Is it so far-fetched now to see how easy it will be for a ruler to emerge to unify all the peoples of the world and bring peaceful resolutions?
Believe me when I say with the literal collapse of the World Trade Center, it is completely conceivable to see the balance of financial power shift from America to Europe, whose industry is heavily financed by Arab oil money.
Will we ever really know how hard our military was affected by the Pentagon being hit? I doubt it, but without a doubt our nation will be forever changed in its status of power.
We must pray. America has been left open and vulnerable. We need to call on G-d for help.
