ISRAEL UPDATE

December 9, 2001 – One of the signs that Jesus gave signifying His second return to earth in Matthew 24:7 and Luke 21:11, would be earthquakes in diverse places.

Now right away the nay sayers come along and say these signs are nothing new; especially in the case of earthquakes since they have plagued mankind almost since his creation.  But consider this pattern, from 1940 to 1950 there were 4 earthquakes, from 1950 to 1960 there were 9, from 1960 to 1970 there were 13, from 1970 to 1980 there were 46, from 1980 to 1990 there were 52 and from 1990 to 2000 there were 167 earthquakes that occurred in diverse places.

In one decade, we had nearly the same amount as all of the previous decades combined. Which brings us the need to understand two key words regarding prophecy, rapidity and frequency.

Famines, earthquakes, pestilence, wars and all the other catastrophes have plagued this earth, but before one can calm down, it appears that three more start and the rapidity or succession of these events becomes staggering.

Intensity is another key when we consider the amount of earthquakes, numbering 4 in the 1940’s to 167 by the turn of the century, giving validity to the idea of intensity.

At any rate, we cannot deny the relevance, nor can we deny the accuracy of Jesus’ words and just how much we need to be wise and discern the times we live in.  I am not questioning the literal return of Jesus to the earth, I am viewing all of these signs as proof that it indeed will happen and we should be living in expectation.

December 9, 2001 – Two suicide bombings within Israel’s borders in a 48-hour period and the death toll per capita far exceeds what America lost on September 11, 2001.

When America suffered her losses caused by a long distance enemy, people demanded background check investigation and deportation. Yet, when Israel deported 400 professional civilians with known ties to the terror group Hamas, nearly every nation of the world condemned her.

After 9-11-01 America was ready to commit men and material until the job was finished. Yet when Israel moves into Beit Jallah, Gaza or Jenin because of the continual mortar and sniper attacks, as well as suicide bombings, again Israel is condemned.

How much blood must be shed in the name of “nationalism” before Arafat is actually held accountable for his evil deeds?  How much land must Israel concede in order to gain peace?

Ask yourself, “What is the difference between the 6000 killed by Osama bin Laden or the disproportionate 8 dead here and 25 dead there because of Arafat?”  Perhaps the utmost question on people’s minds should be, “Why is America demanding Israel to live by a different code against terrorists than we are?”

The final question should be, “How many Israelis and Palestinians have to die so Arafat can get still another chance to show his “peaceful intentions?”
