ISRAEL UPDATE

December 30, 2001 – Recently, I sat having dinner with a man who is very close to the issues of the Middle East, so I took advantage of his prowess and asked him, “What is the situation in Pakistan and where is it headed?”

He calmly put his fork down, looked at me and asked, “Pastor, what do you think of the situation in Pakistan and where is it headed?”

Needless to say, I was caught off guard, but I gave my best assessment.  “I believe Pakistan now is like Iran was prior to the Shah being deposed, the difference is they have nuclear weapons.”

My guest smiled and said, “That’s a very wise assessment of the current situation. It could become very problematic.”

I don’t say this to boast, but rather to lament that this situation is being presented to the American populace as a good scenario, since the Pakistani government is pro-American.

The Iranian government was pro-American, yet the general populace of that nation, as well as many of its leaders, was caught in the groundswell of fundamental Islam – just like Pakistan today.

Islamic Pakistan and Hindu India are now posturing towards each other, placing troops on their borders, ready to do battle.

I have quoted the prophet Jeremiah before, but allow me to reiterate, “My bowels, my bowels!  I am pained at my very heart, my heart maketh a noise in me, I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.” Jer 4:19

December 30, 2001 – As I write this article, we are now closing out the old year of 2001 and everyone is looking to the New Year, but obviously with much more apprehension, due to the events of September 11, 2001.

We are told the war in Afghanistan is winding down, but we still have Al-Queida training bases in Sudan and Iraq that will have to dealt with.

Arafat was not allowed to travel to Bethlehem for the traditional Christmas Mass, yet there is scarcely a Christian left in the little town.

Pakistan and India are rattling sabers, staring down each other’s gun barrels, with a situation so volatile that a popgun could start the whole thing ablaze.

We are living in the heyday of Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings, as people flock to wizards and hobbits to learn the difference between good and evil.

Three European nations are ready to start using the Euro as early as January 1, 2002 and the microchip being placed in the human body for identification purposes - is being pushed again - with new fervor, “to protect the world”.

We can see and feel the spirit of Babylon creeping into every aspect of religion, politics, and social life, drawing us to a one-world religion, money and ruler.

We have to ask, will the Super Bowl or the Times Square New Years Eve party be prime targets for terrorist attacks? G-d is sending His message to the world, it is time to repent and prepare for the coming judgement. We need to be watching and praying.

To be continued…
