ISRAEL UPDATEOctober 20, 2002- One of the dangerous beliefs growing today is the fallacy that Islam’s hatred of America is based solely upon our support for Israel… nothing could be further from the truth.
History bears out a long, bitter battle between the forces of Islam and Christianity – practically since the inception of Mohammed’s religion in the 7th century.
A regrettable, unfortunate fact is that for the most part, Christianity has been hateful and antagonistic toward the Jews for the last 1700 years.
But America, aside from Israel, presents a threat to Islam for several reasons.
One - the USA is the last bastion of Judeo-Christian ethics and Western values.
Two - America funds and trains missionaries, whose influence reaches the four corners of the globe, so, we stand in the way, preventing Islam’s total domination of the world.
It is true that when the attrition of oil sheiks’ terrorism and lobbyists wear down our nations’ leaders – it will effectively remove Israel’s last major supporter – thereby leaving her isolated.
Yes, America is a threat to Islam. In return, they are undermining our nation in so many ways that it is staggering. Meanwhile, the great majority of U.S. citizens are oblivious to these events.
All believers need to come forward and pray as never before… This is not just because our nation is in need, but also because G-d’s people and their covenant land stand in need as well. We are in this together.
October 20, 2002 – Have you ever noticed the stark contrast between the Apostle Peter’s message on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2:14-47 and Stephen’s address to the Sanhedrin, found in Acts 7:2-60 ?
Peter’s words fell on good soil and bore fruit – people were saved and filled with the Spirit, having unity and continuity of doctrine.
Stephen’s message made the people so angry that they gnashed their teeth and pounced on him like wild animals without restraint.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was unable to speak at Montreal’s Concordia University due to raucous protestors. They were unhappy because his topic was about waging war against terrorism in a timely manner.
Yet Hanan Ashrawi, former PLO spokesperson and confidant to Yasser Arafat, spoke at Colorado College in Colorado Springs without incident.
In her speech on “September 11 - One Year Later: Responding to Global Challenges", she stated that she doesn’t “think of Hamas as a terrorist group” and she considered Israeli citizens of Judea and Samaria to be “legitimate targets of the Palestinian resistance.”
Those who protested her speech held signs, gave a rebuttal, and had a few scattered boos – unlike the Montreal site that was littered with paper, upturned chairs, broken furniture, and the residue of pepper spray.
This stark contrast shows us that there are two distinct forces at work in the world. When it comes to G-d’s word, or Israel – the lines have obviously been drawn.
To be continued…
