ISRAEL UPDATE

November 17, 2002 - Two years ago I traveled to Israel as part of a solidarity mission, as Christians and Jews went to the land of G-d’s covenant to show support and love to His people.

Many people have refused to go to Israel the past several years – their reasoning being that the violence of the Intafadah that has broken out gives them cause and concern for their safety – and for good reason.

The trend two years ago was random sniper attacks that had no specific target – men and women, young or old – all felt the sting of the sniper’s bullet.  Now, look at America’s recent battle with terrorism.

But even prior to that, people were refusing to go to Israel because of the rash of explosions at restaurants, markets and buses that were being attacked by suicide bombers.

Again, concern over traveling to Israel… But then came the attacks of 9-11 – what was being done in Israel at markets and restaurants was expressed in America by slamming commercial airliners into our skyscrapers.

So what has America learned about the terrorist mentality that Israel has fought for her short, but turbulent life?

There is no one, or anywhere, for that matter, that is safe from these predators.  Placating and negotiating does not guarantee peace, so as a nation and as individuals must stop asking Israel to not retaliate – and stand in support of G-d’s people and land.

November 17, 2002 - The old cliché, "what you don't know won't hurt you" has proved to be irrelevant to us as Americans - as our lack of proper intelligence gathering regarding terrorism has cost dearly, not just in lives, but financially as well.

Another cliché "better late than never" falls on deaf ears.  We have seen firsthand that learning late leaves us feeling vulnerable and susceptible.

Perhaps our leaders should first begin to grasp the fact that we have been at war for a long time with this enemy called terrorism - that has as its main objective destroying Israel first, then America.

Second, we need divine wisdom from above to guide us through these troubled times, not clichés and quotes from an unrelated time in our past.

The knowledge of today comes from a learning system that despises G-d, teaches evolution, and embraces beliefs such as "man is G-d and all things are relative."

It is no wonder that we as a nation have been laid wide open and susceptible to the lies and seductions of our enemies that have put us to sleep!

If we want to live quiet, peaceable lives, then we must pray for our leaders to call on G-d for wisdom and then for them have the faith to act upon His answers.
